Course Description

The 2nd International Opera Masterclass with Maestro Simone Maria Marziali The Stage Lab International Masterclass Series is proud to welcome Maestro Simone Maria Marziali back to Berlin for an exclusive four-day International Opera Masterclass, culminating in a final concert and recording. Designed for advanced students, emerging artists and professional singers, this boutique programme offers the opportunity to work intensively with one of Italy’s respected conductors, vocal coaches and lyric artist managers. Limited to just ten active participants, the masterclass provides exceptional individual attention within a collaborative and highly personalised artistic environment. As Artistic Director of the Accademia Verdiana Carlo Bergonzi in Busseto, Italy, Maestro Marziali is internationally recognised for his expertise in the Italian operatic tradition, particularly Bel Canto, Verdi and Puccini. For more than twelve years he served as principal prompter, répétiteur and assistant conductor at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago and has collaborated with leading opera houses and institutions throughout Europe, Australia and Japan. Throughout his career he has worked alongside artists including Plácido Domingo, Raina Kabaivanska, Daniela Dessì, Fabio Armiliato, Patrizia Ciofi and Marcello Giordani, and has conducted repertoire including La Bohème, La Traviata, Aida, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Nabucco and Turandot. As founder of Musikos Lyric Artist Management, he also brings valuable insight into professional career development. Participants may bring audition repertoire, complete operatic roles, concert repertoire or works in progress, receiving personalised coaching in vocal technique, musical preparation, Italian diction, stylistic interpretation, dramatic communication and performance practice. The four-day programme culminates in a final concert, with performance recording included, giving participants the opportunity to present repertoire developed during the masterclass. A limited number of Observer Places are also available for singers, teachers, répétiteurs, conductors and opera enthusiasts wishing to experience the masterclass from inside the studio. Hosted by Stage Lab Berlin, the International Masterclass Series brings internationally distinguished artists to Berlin for intensive artistic training and professional development.
